BREEAM 2011 New Construction Print E-mail

From 1st July 2011, BREEAM will launch its BREEAM 2011 New Construction Scheme. This will replace BREEAM 2008 as the current version for new building assessments.

The BREEAM Regulations have been streamlined in some areas and but will be more complex in others.  For example, there will be greater emphasis energy performance and on 'after care' of the building.

BREEAM 2011 New Construction streamlines parts of the BREEAM process by condensing the previous schemes building types into 1 scheme, covering 49 common issues across 9 categories. Some issues have also been consolidated where they have common elements, for example, “Daylight and Comfort” are now combined.

BREEAM building types:

  • Public (Education, Healthcare, Prisons, Courts)
  • Commercial (Offices, Industrial, Retail)
  • Multi-Residential
  • Other (Hotels, Cinemas,Libraries, Leisure Centres, Community Buildings)
The full BREEAM 2011Technical Manual can be downloaded from HERE.

Please note, from the 1st July 2011, BRE will charge a  Registration Fee of £120 on all new projects.

It is possible to pre-register your BREEAM project before June 30th 2011, and thereby comply with the current 'old' Regulations rather than the 'new' Regulations.
