Reegen has been commissioned by the Environment Agency in Wales to undertake a BREEAM In Use assessment of their Plas Menai office in Bangor.  The assessment will involve working closely with their Estates Manager and building users.  The BREEAM In Use standard will be used on this occasion to assess the environmental performance of the building (Asset Rating) and the operation of the building (Building Management Rating).

The Standard (BES 5058) covers the major environmental issues that affect buildings throughout their operational life including:

• energy & greenhouse gas emissions
• water
• waste
• air quality
• noise
• lighting
• property protection
• fire protection etc.

The BREEAM In Use Standard is compatible with major regulatory and corporate reporting systems including energy performance certificates (EPCs); Display Energy Certificates (DECs); the IPD Environment Code; ISO 14001.

The Standard is relevant to all non-domestic, commercial, industrial, retail and institutional buildings that have been in operation for at least 2 years.
